Jax: I've bid $1 million. Is anyone going to raise?
[No one replies]
Jax: Well, in that case, Miss, could you instruct the auctioneer to finalize the sale?
Gia: Sure, whatever. Finish the sale.
Auctioneer: $1 million bid. I've got $1 million bid. Now $1 million. Anybody else after $1 million? Sold for $1 million to Mr...
Jax: Jacks.
Auctioneer: Sold for $1 million to Mr. Jacks.
[Everyone is stunned by the sudden reappearance of Jasper Jacks]
Jax: There's an auction in the progress here for the benefit of General Hospital. Let's get on with it, shall we?
Ned: Hold it a second. The last we hear from you, you're in Paris looking for Brenda. Now you show up a year later, bidding on jewelry?
Jax: Lives are at stake here, Ned. I don't believe I've had the pleasure.
Gia: My name is Deception...Gia Campbell. I am the Face of Deception.
Jax: Oh, what a coincidence. I knew the woman who set the standard. Well, Gia, Face of Deception, I'd like to make a preemptive bid on everything you have left.
Gia: Sure. You can have whatever you want.
Helena: Well, that's quite an astonishing offer, Mr. Jacks. Needless to say, I'm interested. I would like to discuss this further privately. Would you excuse us?
------------------------------------------ |
Skye: Who is that?
AJ: Trouble.
Skye: I want to know everything you know about your friend, the charming Mr. Jacks.
AJ: Corporate raider. Totally ruthless. Please.
Skye: Go on.
AJ: Well, everything is a game. He plays to win. Takes no prisoners. And to quote Grandfather, "He'll steal the grass out from under your feet."
Skye: So far, so good.
AJ: Hmm. Year and a half ago, I sold him my ELQ stock. He was supposed to dismantle the company. He changed his mind. So, thanks to me, this man you're drooling over has the power to finish you off.
Skye: I'd prefer to be finished off by Mr. Jacks than the Quartermaines, I must say.
AJ: I couldn't see any further than seeking revenge on Grandfather. It was impulsive, vindictive, and really stupid.
Skye: Oh, please. If I had to stand here and list all the stupid things I've done in the name of getting even, we'd be here till New Year's. Now, I want to know everything about him...his likes, his dislikes. I mean, a man like that must have some sort of Achilles' heel.
------------------------------------------
Edward: Hey, hey, hey, hey. Where are you going in such a hurry, huh?
Jax: Well, I got what I came for. Now I've other priorities.
Edward: There are no more important priorities than ELQ.
Jax: Edward, haven't you ever heard of diversification? You know, it's not my fault that you tied up all your stock in one vulnerable company.
Edward: ELQ is as sound as it's ever been.
Jax: Oh, I doubt that. Or you wouldn't be so anxious for my vote.
Monica: Alan recently discovered that he has an illegitimate daughter.
Jax: Well, my condolences. I'm sure the revelation was painful.
Monica: Well, I'm used to it. But Edward, in his infinite wisdom, gave her a seat on the board of ELQ, before he realized she has the ethics of a pit viper.
Jax: That's not unusual in a Quartermaine.
Edward: She makes Tracy look like Mother Teresa. Is that clear enough for you?
Jax: Well, it seems you have a problem.
Monica: And you could solve it. You help us vote her off.
Jax: I'll give it due consideration when I have the time. Right now, I have other business.
Edward: But...
------------------------------------------
AJ: Chloe asked Jax to back off ELQ, he did.
Skye: You're telling me he gave up a major financial coup because she asked?
AJ: He's eccentric that way.
Skye: Huh, so the love of a good woman can make the most ruthless corporate raider in the history of the world deny his own nature.
AJ: I don't have a clue to what Jax is up to right now, about Chloe or anything. But what I do know is that Grandfather and Mom are putting the screws to Jax right now, trying to convince him to get rid of you. I'll do whatever I can to keep that from happening. In the meantime, I'll be back, ok? I'm just going to go see what I can find out.
Skye: Maybe there's something I can do to further my own cause with Mr. Jacks.
