AJ: Well, well. What a surprise.
Skye: What are you doing, AJ? What, are you getting ready to trash your life once again? What, the first 50 times weren't enough for you?
AJ: Hmm. Interesting. Am I here by myself?
Skye: Well, I was under the impression that you'd fallen in love with your wife, or so you keep saying. That you wanted to strike out on your own, start over. And yet there's Courtney, waiting tables at a restaurant, and here you are draped over a bar, ready to get smashed again.
AJ: I still haven't heard your excuse.
Skye: Clearly you're in worse shape than I am. For God's sake, AJ, I saw you stealing from the family, and do not try to deny it. I saw you with my own two eyes. You are flat-out lying to that young woman who, for some unfathomable reason, has chosen to see the good in you, to believe that you could actually rise above that dysfunctional road show we call a family and start over. But no, no. You will probably get many good reasons from the Quartermaines to justify you sitting there and taking another drink.
AJ: Amazing. You are amazing. You have this knack for tackling subjects you know nothing about. Yet you have all the answers. Well, you're wrong, Skye. I love Courtney more than I've loved anyone in my entire life. You know, I know this is nearly impossible for you or anyone else to fathom, but it's the God's honest truth. I'm madly in love with my wife.
Skye: I can see that... I think.
AJ: That's why I told Grandfather to stuff his plan. I suddenly realized what I had in Courtney and I wasn't going to get her, I wasn't going to let her get used as leverage to get Michael back for one more minute. I can't tell you how good that felt. Ooh, it felt good. But unfortunately now I'm flat broke. And Grandfather's cut me off of all my own money, and he's made sure I can't get hired.
Skye: That man is such a nasty piece of work.
AJ: Yeah, you want to know how hard up I am? I even went to Jax.
Skye: Jax?
AJ: And I asked him for help. He said sure, as long as I would get out of yours and Courtney's lives.
Skye: Oh. AJ, I'm sorry. I really am.
AJ: Figures, you know? The story of my life. Finally something good comes along and I find a way to screw it up. Of course, you've probably forgotten what that feels like since everything worked out so peachy for you.
Skye: Yeah, well, I, I wouldn't be so sure about that.
AJ: Do I detect a little trouble in paradise?
Skye: Feeling the need to gloat?
AJ: No. I thought you might need a friend.
Skye: Jax lied to me. He told me he was going to do business in Australia, and I found out that he was really going to Paris. So you know me. I just couldn't resist the urge to check up on him. And so I tracked him down to the hotel Georges Cinq, and when I called there, a woman answered. So I headed for the nearest bar, just like you.
AJ: You still do understand.
Skye: All too well. Bartender? I'd like to order something.
[She orders them coffee]
AJ: [to the bartender] Thank you.
Skye: And keep it coming. We're living dangerously tonight.
[They talk about AJ's problems some more]
AJ: Hey, thanks for the coffee.
[AJ leaves and Edward walks up]
Edward: Oh, thank God it's just coffee. I thought maybe you'd slipped.
Skye: Oh, and don't pretend you wouldn't be thrilled. Sorry to disappoint you, Grandfather.
[Skye starts to leave]
Edward: Wait, wait, not so fast. There's something I want to share with you about Jax.
Skye: If you feel the need to tell me something about Jax, you go right ahead. But know upfront, I'm not interested.
Edward: Thank you for indulging me, Skye. I was going to pay you a visit this evening.
Skye: Ooh? And why would you do that?
Edward: Well, I've been doing some thinking since, since last we spoke, and I've been remembering the ups and downs of my long journey with Lila. And I've concluded that it is only right for you to believe in Jax and to stand by him, as long as you are informed with what you need to make a wise decision.
[He sets a folder on the bar and then leaves]
