Edward: Close all the doors on him. All right, I'll talk to you tomorrow. Well, hello there, dear. What did you do, come back here to throw yourself on the mercy of the family? Has Jax proven himself to be the cad that he really is?
Skye: I'm here to see Grandmother, so this room is taken.
Edward: Oh, really? I find it rather odd that you would be spending the peak of the evening visiting your grandmother.
Skye: I thought she might need a shoulder to cry on over her disastrous marriage.
Edward: Oh, what, has the Aussie playboy bailed already?
Skye: Jax happens to be out of the country.
Edward: Oh, womanizing abroad, huh?
Skye: He's on a business trip.
Edward: Is that what he told you? Oh, my dear, you have fallen for the oldest line in the book. A business trip, indeed. Now, if Jax had asked you to go with him, you'd have gone, of course, but you're here, so I can only assume that he didn't ask you. Say, did you happen to take my suggestion about calling the former wives of the former CEOs of those companies that he raided? If you do, they'll verify that I'm telling the truth. See, Jax has a long history of seducing and abandoning women when he gets what he wants out of business.
Skye: Jax was my ally. I had to chase him to get him to take the deal.
Edward: Oh, in other words, you played right into his hands. Let me ask you this, dear. Has Jax ever said that he loves you? Well, if he does, you'd be a fool to believe it.
Skye: Have any of us ever lived up to your expectations, Grandfather? I'll wait for Grandmother on the terrace.
[Edward follows her outside]
Edward: Where exactly did you say Jax was off to?
Skye: I didn't.
Edward: Which means you don't know.
Skye: You're the one who's worried about Jax, aren't you, Grandfather? Otherwise, you wouldn't bother playing these little head games. Jax has you scared, doesn't he?
Edward: No, I'm only trying to help you, my dear. I'll go see what's keeping your grandmother. And, Skye, why don't you call those women that I told you about. If I'm lying, you'll know it.
[Phone rings]
Skye: Jasper Jacks' room, s'il vous plait. Merci.
[Phone rings]
Woman: Oui, bonjour? Hello? Hello?
[Jax enters from the terrace]
Jax: No one there?
Woman: Wrong number.
Jax: Well, let's see what you brought.
Woman: It took a great deal of work to secure the necklace we discussed. I hope it will meet your expectations. Exquisite, isn't it?
Jax: Yes, this would look very nice on Skye. Would you mind trying it on?
Woman: Not at all.

[Edward returns]
Skye: Where's Grandmother?
Edward: Oh, it's her annual garden club dinner party. It completely slipped my mind. But this doesn't mean...
Skye: You know, Grandfather, it's really pathetic, your attempt to make me doubt Jax. It really didn't work.
Edward: No, wait, wait, I'm just trying to help you, my dear, and I have this for you. Look. Here's Jax's room number.
[He hands her a slip of paper]
Edward: Number 923 in Paris, hotel...
Skye: I know where Jax is, all right?!
[She rips up the paper]
Skye: He tells me everything. He's not using me and he never will. He cares about me in a way that you will never, ever understand.
Edward: Oh, he cares? Of course he cares greatly, my dear, but only about winning.
Skye: Go to hell.

[Later]
Skye: Bartender, when you get a chance.
[She and AJ look at each other, shocked]
