A confrontational night... |
Skye: Hello, Carly. Carly: What do you want? Skye: Three guesses. Carly: I'm not in the mood to play your games. Skye: How's business? Carly: It's very profitable. Thank you for asking. Skye: Well, you certainly soaked Jax out of quite a sum to get this place up and running. Carly: Yeah, and he's already seeing a return on his investment. Skye: Yeah, security is pretty lax, though. Nobody even noticed when I snuck in during lockup. Sonny definitely wouldn't approve. Carly: What's your point? Skye: I am impressed with that great kitchen of yours, though. That big walk-in refrigerator? Must be pretty cold. Frightening, too, if suddenly you found yourself locked in, unable to get out. Sort of like swimming in a deep, dark lake. Carly: Am I supposed to be scared right now? Skye: I would be if I were you. Carly: You know what? Don't embarrass yourself by messing with me, Skye. Skye: You don't get it, do you? Carly: Oh, I get it, all right. You're a dish it out but can't take it, spoiled, little, rich girl who got everything handed to her on a silver platter, yet you still feel sorry for yourself. No, whatever you get, it's just not good enough. Skye: While you, of course, have everything that you want. Wonderful friends, the man that you love. Carly: You know what? I had to dig and claw for everything that I have, and there is no way that you are going to take it from me. Skye: Don't be naive. Carly: Excuse me? Skye: Tougher people than you have tried to take me on and been very sorry they did. Carly: Bring it on, Skye. I'm more than happy to school you. Skye: Oh, I'm sure that you could win a cat fight, but not much else. Carly: You know, you may get what you want, Skye, but you don't know how to keep it because you're too afraid to take chances. You know if you open up you might get hurt, so what do you do? You back off and then you trash it before someone else can. You know what you end up with then? Nothing. No guts, no glory, sweetheart. Skye: You telling me you have guts? You couldn't even show your face when you locked me in that boat shed. Carly: It was a prank, ok? Oh, you got locked in a boat shed. Boo-hoo. You know what? If you'd had any sense, you would've realized it wasn't Sonny. The threatening note, it was written in crayon, for God's sake. Oh, but you panicked. [Mocks Skye] "Oh, they're going to kill me." [Normal voice] So you open up the trap door and you jump into freezing cold water when all you had to do was keep your wits about you and wait it out. Because I came back to unlock the door, but you had already gone dog-paddling in the water. All you could've done is walked out, no harm, no foul. Although you did get to play victim for Jax. That was good. Although it didn't really last that long or go that far because he wouldn't go along with your scheme. You know, Skye, what you're doing is not really working. You could probably take a few lessons from me. Skye: You're right. Carly: Excuse me? Skye: You're right. Good night, Carly. Carly: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait, wait, wait a minute here. You are agreeing with me? Skye: Don't let it go to your head, ok? You've made some interesting points, as well as surprising me. Carly: How's that? Skye: You have all the charm and grace of a female wrestler, Carly, but you have managed to build a rather nice life for yourself. And I'm sure there are some elements to your technique that just might be useful to me. Carly: Yeah. You can start by deciding what you want and going for it. How you could manage to lose a great guy like Jax is really beyond me... Skye: Stay off Jax. He's not why I'm here. Carly: Oh, try again. You hate the fact that he made you tell the truth at the police station. Skye: Jax might have some ideas on fairness that I find a little hard to grasp, but I can handle it. Carly: You are starting to wonder if Jax is a little too honest for his own good. You know, maybe, maybe he did it to protect me. I mean, I don't know. Maybe there is a spark between me and Jax. Skye: Oh, please. Carly: What? I mean, he did, he did, you know, respect me enough to be my business partner. Maybe he wants more. I mean, I am available. Sonny's out of the picture. And, gosh, I don't know, the club's going really well. Is that what you're thinking, Skye? Skye: Not even close. Carly: Hmm, because the more I ponder it, you know, Jax, he's, he is pretty damn cute and he's probably the most eligible bachelor in this town. But you know what? You and I, we're both high-maintenance. But at least I'm upfront. Jax may be a little tired of your games. You know what, Skye? You and I are a lot more alike than I care to admit, but maybe we could help each other get what we want because of it. Skye: What makes you think I'd help you do anything? Carly: Because it works both ways, Skye. You help me, I help you. Skye: Why? Can't get what you want on your own? Carly: You don't know what I want. Skye: You want what most women want, power, respect, independence. But underneath... Carly: What? Skye: Well, we want a man who will love us just the way we are. Hmm, maybe even because of who we are. Carly: So this is about Jax. Skye: I was referring to you and Sonny. Although he seems more than happy to have Alexis fill that void in his life. I saw the way you were looking at those two at the police station. You were practically turning inside out. And to think that you were the cause of that intimate moment. Because of you, Sonny landed in jail, which led him to having to call Super Alexis to the rescue in the first place. Carly: No, you see, actually Sonny pays Alexis to be at the police station with him. Skye: Jax tells me she's an excellent attorney. He has nothing but the utmost respect for her, which kind of makes me wonder what it is. What makes such a successful, capable woman become a mouthpiece for the mob? Must be the perks. Hmm? Knowing she has Sonny's trust and admiration. Ooh, I bet he really knows how to appreciate her. Carly: You know what? You don't have the first idea what Sonny appreciates. Skye: Oh, believe me, I don't want to know. But I did see how grateful he was to Alexis and how he walked out of the room without giving you a glance. Ooh, I could feel the chill across the room. Carly: You know, Skye, you know that warm and cozy moment of understanding we had? It's gone south now. Skye: I agree. Which brings us back to the fact that we have absolutely nothing to discuss. Carly: Wrong. We have AJ to discuss. Sonny offered you a deal, and you would be wise to take it. Skye: Clearly you find Mr. Corinthos persuasive. I don't. Carly: Wise up and listen because you know my opinion on AJ and Sonny's is a lot lower than mine. So if you care at all about your brother and him living, then I would, I'd talk to him and get him to bring Courtney home. Skye: What's in it for you? Carly: I don't want Sonny paying for any more of AJ's disasters. Skye: So I'm supposed to take Sonny Corinthos at his word and expect that he won't harm a hair on AJ's head? Carly: Look, if you keep up your end of the bargain, he won't. Skye: I don't believe you or you ex-husband. Carly: Surprisingly enough, Sonny and Jax have something in common, they are both men of their word. So Sonny made you a deal. That means he will honor it no matter what the cost to him. So if you can't get AJ to bring Courtney back and give up on her, then you know what? I am sure that your imagination can fill in the blanks. Skye: I'm sure it can. Carly: So, deal or no deal? Skye: No deal. Carly: You're making a mistake. Skye: If Sonny doesn't keep his word, I'll be risking AJ's life. Carly: I told you Sonny always keeps his word. Skye: And you're the ex-wife who will do anything to keep in Sonny's good graces, which kind of makes you a little less than a reliable source. Carly: I warned you. Skye: And one good warning deserves another. See, you caused me a lot of trouble, not to mention almost killing me with that stupid prank of yours. But I'm really good at holding a grudge. So when I decide to make my move, I promise you, you won't see it coming. ----------------------------------- Jax: Thought I might find you here. We have something to discuss. Sonny: Jax, can we do it later? Jax: I'll make it brief. You owe me a favor, so I'm here to collect. Sonny: I owe you nothing. Jax: I got Skye to drop the kidnapping accusations against both you and Carly. Sonny: Maybe she decided it was unwise to pursue it, Jax. Jax: No, believe me, she wanted to see you punished. Sonny: Skye had no evidence! Jax: She would've lied in a heartbeat if I hadn't stopped her. Now, given your history and Carly's, who do you think the DA would've believed? Sonny: What do you want, Jax? Jax: I want you to show some restraint. Sonny: Don't I always? Jax: Look, there's a small chance that you might find AJ and Courtney before I do. And if that's the case, I want you to guarantee me that AJ will be safe. Sonny: I already made Skye that offer. She turned me down. Jax: Ok, I'm not making myself clear. This is not a request. Sonny: First of all, you're not in a position to make demands and you don't tell me how to deal with my family. Jax: I want your word that AJ will be safe. Sonny: Is Courtney going to be safe with AJ? He's using her, lying to her. He's going to have to deal with the consequences. Alexis: There are no... What consequences? There will be no consequences. Why are you here? Don't get involved. Sonny: Isn't it obvious? Skye Quartermaine tells him to jump, he jumps. Doesn't matter that everything that comes out of her mouth is a lie. Jax: Look, Skye doesn't want her brother hurt, and neither do I. Sonny: She had a choice, and she passed. Jax: Skye doesn't know where her brother is. Sonny: Oh, right, right, right, yeah. Jax: Look, I'm going to say this one more time. You stay away from AJ. Sonny: If you hadn't wasted my time, you know, getting me arrested for charges you knew wouldn't stick, I'd be with my sister right now. Jax: Yeah, facing a murder rap. Sonny: Ok, you know what? That's the end of discussion. I'll do what I want with AJ. Jax: Not if I find him first. Sonny: What?! Leave this alone, Jax. Jax: Your solution's unacceptable. Sonny: Have I ever asked for your opinion? Jax: I should've known better than to bargain with a man like you. I won't make that mistake again. Sonny: Good. Alexis: Jax, this isn't even your problem. Why are you involved? Jax: Now, I doubt even an attorney of your caliber will be able to convince a jury that Sonny's innocent when they find AJ dead. Not that I would object to seeing Sonny in prison for the rest of his life, but I really don't want to take Skye to her brother's funeral. Sonny: I want my sister safe, that's all. Jax: You know, you're part of the reason she left in the first place. She told me herself that night I caught her in AJ's apartment. She said she wanted to get away from you. Sonny: AJ's working her, Jax. Can you understand that? Jax: You know, maybe Courtney's perceptive enough to realize that you're a nightmare waiting to happen. So what if you're Courtney's brother? You still have to earn her trust and loyalty, and so far you've done the exact opposite. In fact, you know what? You would be the last person she would listen to, especially if you've got your hands around AJ's throat! |
