Skye walks out... |
Dara: We are on the record. I'm assistant District Attorney Dara Jensen. Also present is Alexis Davis, legal counsel for Michael Corinthos jr. Will you both please state your name and your address for the record? Skye: Skye chandler Quartermaine, 1420 Quartz Lane, Port Charles Hotel, ninth floor, Port Charles, New York. Alexis: Alexis Davis, Harbor View Towers, penthouse two, Port Charles, New York. Dara: Ms. Quartermaine, would you please describe the events that took place March 25? [Skye sees Sonny thru the Interrogation Room window] Dara: Ms. Quartermaine, would you like for me to have Mr. Corinthos escorted from the squad room if his presence is distracting to you? Skye: I'm not the least bit intimidated by Mr. Corinthos. Dara: Can you recall the events of March 25? Skye: Yes, I couldn't forget them if I tried. I was locked in a filthy, freezing boat shed. I managed to get out through a trap door in the floor which led to the water. I nearly drowned trying to swim to safety, then I lost consciousness and nearly died of hypothermia. Dara: Can you tell us who did this to you? Skye: Yes, I absolutely can. Skye: Before I could even turn around, the door was slammed shut and I was locked in the boat shed. Now, I knew how angry Sonny was from his earlier visit. All I could think was, "I'm going to be murdered." First, he'd torture me for AJ and Courtney's whereabouts, which I didn't know and I still don't, then, when he realized that, he'd probably have to have me killed so I wouldn't go to the police. I didn't know when that door was going to be thrown open. The more I waited, the more frightened I became. So I searched the place and I managed to find a trap door in the floor. But, you see, the shed was built over water, so that would mean that I'd have to go in the water, which was like ice, and I'm not exactly a good swimmer, especially in street clothes. But the water was freezing, and I, my muscles started cramping up and I kept going under, and I was swallowing lake water and it was... Dara: Take your time. When exactly did you think Sonny Corinthos was responsible for you being locked in that shed? Skye: I knew within minutes of the door slamming shut behind me. Alexis: What gave you the impression that Mr. Corinthos was involved at all, Ms. Chandler? Did you see him? Did you hear him? Did you see anyone who worked for him? Did you see my client at the boat shed? Skye: No. Alexis: Did you hear my client at the boat shed? Skye: No. Alexis: Did you see anyone at the boat shed that you know to be an employee of my client? Skye: No. Alexis: Did you see anyone at all at the boat shed, Ms. Chandler? Skye: No. Alexis: You have no grounds to hold my client. I assume he's free to leave? Dara: Correct. Skye: No, you can't just let him walk out. Dara: Ms. Quartermaine, I don't have anything to hold him on. Skye: No! No, you can't. You can't let him walk away! You've got to lock this man up! He's going to kill my brother! Jax: Hey. Hey, hey, hey. Skye: You can't let him go! Who the Hell do you... Jax: Calm down. Skye: You know what this man does! You know what will happen to my brother! Taggert: Ms. Quartermaine, this won't solve anything. Jax: Skye, Skye, look at me. It's over, ok? It's over. Skye: AJ didn't take your sister away. She wanted to get away from you. This man came to me and he told me that he wouldn't do anything to AJ if I helped him get his sister back immediately. You know, that's a threat! I mean, what, you people have to wait until it's carried out before you do anything?! Taggert: Lady, lady, I understand how you feel, believe me. But apparently, we have no grounds. Skye: No. No, no, you can't let him go! He's going to kill my brother! Taggert: You have no proof. Skye: He, he held AJ in a meat locker. He told you that himself. Taggert: We can't hold a man on hearsay. Jax: Skye, listen to me. It's over, ok? It's over. Skye: You, you talk the talk about Sonny being the worst menace in the whole world, and when I finally get a chance to put him away, you make me let him go. So that he can go harm the only person in this whole world who has ever come through for me! You know what? Maybe none of you in this room really cares whether AJ lives or dies, but I do, all right? You think he's heartless, but he has a heart. It's just been bruised and battered and beaten around his whole life. You've just given Sonny Corinthos, a known criminal, permission to destroy an innocent man! That's right, innocent! What, what has AJ ever done that could ever compare to the crimes that Sonny Corinthos has committed?! Hmm? No, but Jax wouldn't let me lie. Would you? You wouldn't let me lie to put him away. I mean, God forbid, God forbid I should tell lies about Sonny! No. No, you protect Carly and Sonny but not AJ. Oh God, AJ has a heart, and Sonny's going to stop it. |
Jax: Skye, listen to me. You were right to tell the truth instead of implicating Sonny. Skye: Well, Jax, you've certainly taken your "knight in shining armor" routine to new and dizzying heights. In one fell swoop, you've managed not only to rescue Carly and Courtney, but Sonny himself. Jax: Skye, you're exhausted. Let me take you someplace. Just the two of us, ok? We'll get away from everything and everyone. We have the whole globe to choose from, so you name it. Wherever you want to go, we'll go. Hmm? Skye: I have to make an appointment with Charles Cole. Jax: I don't know what that is. Skye: Charles Cole funeral home. You just made me sign AJ's death warrant. Jax: Skye, come on, please. Let me just take you home. Skye: Home? No, I've never really had a home, but once upon a time I had a brother. Jax: Don't ignore what happened at the lake house between us. Ok, we got past all the anger and all the game-playing, Skye. We opened a door. So I'm asking you, don't shut me out now. Skye: It was nice while it lasted. It certainly didn't last long enough. The past 24 hours, you've moved on to save the next damsels in distress. It was lovely, though, the price was way too steep. It cost me my brother. The one person in this world who knows me and who loves me anyway. You know what they say, if you can't afford it don't take it to bed. |
